The Georgia Dietetic Foundation (GDF), established in 1995, is a 501(C)(3) non-profit foundation. Since 1998, GDF has awarded $52,000 to 48 dietetic students; since 2011, we have awarded 4 professional stipends totaling $3,750. Foundation activities have included monetary donations to local community organizations; support for statewide educational meetings, including the GAND Annual Convention and Exhibition; and promotion of delivery of up-to-date nutrition information and services to Georgians.
The mission of GDF is to promote the health and well-being of Georgia citizens through nutrition education by supporting the education and professional development of dietetic and other health care professionals.
GDF awards one or more scholarships per year to qualified candidates in graduate, undergraduate, and supervised practice programs. The amount of each scholarship is $1500. Candidates do not have to be Georgia residents but must be enrolled in or accepted to a Georgia program. The recipients of the awards will be recognized at the Annual Conference and Exhibition (ACE). The 2014 application deadline is April 30th, and recipients will be notified by June15th.

She is grateful to the Georgia Dietetic Foundation for the Ellen Jurgens Memorial Scholarship award, which will allow her to complete the Emory Hospitals Dietetic Internship.
Laura Marchese (2014 GDF scholarship winner; dietetics student at Life University):" Once I become a Registered Dietitian, I plan to utilize my prior career experiences in communications and media to launch educational nutrition programming in schools, online and within a broadcast media context. My previous undergraduate degree in Communications and Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction have inspired and prepared me to implement large-scope nutrition education initiatives that will enhance public access to life-altering nutrition knowledge. I am so thankful for receiving this generous scholarship award, which will greatly help offset the costs of continuing to pursue my passion and ultimate dream of someday improving the health of thousands of people."
