Continuing Professional Education (CPE)

The Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) is the credentialing agency for the American Dietetic Association. The current continuing professional education (CPE) guidelines for RDs are as follows:

CPE hours are accumulated annually from June 1 to May 31.

To maintain registration status, 75 hours of approved CPE must be reported to CDR within each five –year registration period.

All self studies must be prior approved by CDR in order to receive credit.

CDR has an online CPE Searchable Database for CDR-approved CPE activities. It can be accessed at www.cdrnet.org/applications/cpe/index.cfm. You can enter the activity, provider activity type or topic, learning needs, CPE level, state and dates and find activities that are available.

The American Dietetic Association’s Center for Professional Development provides a listing of continuing education opportunities at http://www.eatright.org/Members/content.aspx?id=8370.
